Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs Chicken wings approx. 12 wings
  • ▢½ tablespoon Baking powder Aluminum free Not baking soda- orange box **Leave this out if you are deep frying
  • ▢½ tablespoon Potato Starch sub corn starch
  • ▢1 teaspoon Garlic Salt
  • ▢1 teaspoon Seasoned salt
  • ▢1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • ▢1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • ▢½ teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • For the Hot Honey sauce
  • ▢2 tablespoon butter
  • ▢4 tablespoon hot sauce Use your favorite hot sauce I used 2 tablespoon Habanero Hot sauce from Trader Joe's
  • ▢2 tablespoon honey Any kind works, I used Spicy Honey from Trader Joe's
  • ▢⅛ teaspoon salt if needed depending on which hot sauce used ** a pinch

Method

  1. Cut the wings into Drums and Flats if they aren't separated yet.
  2. 1.5 lbs Chicken wings (approx. 12 wings)
  3. Dry the wings very well with a paper towel, this will ensure a crispy wing.
  4. Combine the dry ingredients (**If Air Frying or Oven baking, we will use baking powder, not baking soda- orange box) If you will deep fry, you can leave out the baking powder.
  5. 1.5 lbs Chicken wings (approx. 12 wings),½ tablespoon Baking powder Aluminum free (Not baking soda- orange box),1 teaspoon Garlic Salt,1 teaspoon Seasoned salt,1 teaspoon Black pepper,1 teaspoon Onion Powder,½ teaspoon Smoked Paprika,½ tablespoon Potato Starch (sub corn starch)
  6. Air Fryer Cooking Instructions
  7. Preheat Air fryer to 400 degrees. Add in the chicken wings and cook for 20 minutes and flip halfway. *Try to avoid over crowding because this can prevent the chicken from cooking evenly and crisping up.*
  8. After flipping the wings at 10 minutes, start to prepare the sauce
  9. Some air fryers may need 15 minutes, some may need the full 20 or even 25 mins. *My Crux Marshmello is done in about 15-18 mins, and the Crux 6-1 takes 20-25 mins*
  10. Oven Cooking Instructions
  11. Preheat your oven to 400F.
  12. Place your wings onto a baking rack for best results. Bake at 400F for 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on your wing size. Flip at the 25-30 minute mark once it has browned.
  13. Deep Frying Instructions
  14. Deep fry wings at 350 for 8-12 minutes. I used my pan that had a lot of space for the wings so mine were cooked at the 8 minute mark. Try not to crowd the pan if possible and cook in small batches to give the wings space to cook evenly*
  15. For the Hot Honey Butter sauce
  16. Heat a pan to medium low and add butter
  17. Once the butter has melted, add in your hot sauce and honey. Season with salt if needed. Simmer 2 minutes until thickened.
  18. Toss the chicken and hot honey butter sauce in a bowl
  19. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Dry your wings very well before seasoning to ensure a crispy wing!
  • Be sure to use baking powder that is aluminum free and not baking soda (orange box)
  • Cooking the chicken on a wire rack inside the air fryer will result in a crispier chicken wing. The wire rack promotes air circulation and helps the juice drip away from the chicken.
